Sonic graffiti, really
Check out the Magnatune write-up:
A 'world music album', with Irish Folk, Latin instrumentals and some piano work thrown into the mix.
Idea for a surrealist movie: a piano and a Spanish guitar become best buddies
and decide to travel from Spain to Ireland. On their scenic journey, they forge
strong friendships with a motley crew of other instruments and make merry in the
streets, town squares, narrow alleys (and pubs) of Europe.
So far so good, and although we still need to actually sit down and write the
screenplay, we've got the soundtrack already: an album of gentle and uplifting
European folklore with a natural, organic sound and a broad mix of styles. With
some new age piano (and guitar) music thrown in for good measure.
So there we are. A small sprinkling of piano and a healthy dose of Spanish guitar, percussion, accordeon, mandolin and tin-whistle. Not sure what bit me but I've been dying to
record some sad accordeon pieces (which I did), some Latin instrumentals
(ditto), and some Irish Folk (likewise). The outcome is all over the
shop, so for those of you who incline towards the recognition
and need of consistency I would offer "European Fusion and Folk" as a label.
